Silver Service Selling Exhibition

As part of the Silver Service event Twelve rare ‘Apostle’ spoons dating from the first half of the 16th century are going on sale. Other early items on show will be spoons dating from the reign of James I.

England is the unrivalled home of beautifully designed, plain or ornate, hand-forged flatware (spoons, forks, and servers).

Englishmen of old took their cutlery seriously enough to carry it with them when they travelled or even when they went into battle; a travel set from the 1760s is in the exhibition.
