‘Let There Be Light’ Exhibition & Sale

At Christmas we like our homes to offer an inviting and welcoming aura. A candle’s glow reflected off glistening silver can transform any setting from the functional to the festive, and provides a softer, warmer, more romantic ambience for parties and dining.

The special ‘Let There Be Light’ display will go on show in the foyer of the London Silver Vaults from October 15th 2007 until the New Year and all items can be purchased.

Whether you like your candles tall and slim, short and rotund or church style, there will be single candlesticks, antique and modern candelabra, salvers, silver candle snuffers, silver bowls for floating candles and from C20th designers, candle-holders and even electric lamps.

You can choose from the display and visit the appropriate dealer or visit any of the 30 shops located at The Vaults, who will all have their own displays to supplement the items on show. Prices start from about £100 for antique silver, less for modern.

Followers of current design trends will know metallics are a big story this year; invest in a piece of antique or modern silver for a truly precious and individual design statement.

Also available from any dealer is Bradbury’s, a little book about silver hallmarking, the oldest form of consumer product control in the world. It’s is a nice addition if you are buying silver as a Christmas gift.

And remember, silver rarely needs silver polish if in regular use; it is very easy to care for with today’s impregnated polishing cloths and gloves.
